Ships' logs, 1839-1843.

Logbook kept by Febiger as a midshipman on various American naval vessels (1839-1843) including: the frigate "Macedonian", Feb. 12-Oct. 27, 1839, spending much of the time in and around Pensacola Bay; the "Concord", Nov.11, 1840-Dec. 6, 1841, cruising to Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Bahia, and Pernambuco in Brazil; the brig "Chipola", March 11-Dec. 25, 1843, bought in Rio and sailed to Mozambique to salvage the wreck of the "Concord". Entries are mostly routine, concerning weather, ship sightings, etc.
